Descending into the Ngorongoro Conservation area is a Jurassic Park-like experience. You watch an incredibly diverse landscape unfold and start to show off the amazing wildlife.
We arrived here from the Serengeti <See Post> so we thought we had seen the best of the trip. Ngorongoro proved us wrong.
The entire park was amazing but the high point of the day was when we pulled over to watch a lion mother and her two cubs. now the cubs looked like full-size lions. They were both males, still had their spots, and had not yet grown their manes. As we watched them they came closer and closer and eventually decided the shade of our jeep was a great place to cool off. Now we had been pretty close to big cats a few times but this was new. They were literally close enough to touch. We had to remind ourselves that these were wild animals and that petting them, while an option, was a terrible idea.
