There are some dreams that are every bit of what you expect them to be. Ballooning over the Serengeti is certainly one of them! But…once I made it to the Serengeti and had started to experience all that she had to share with me, ballooning over her became just a small part of a much larger experience. <See Serengeti Post>
The point here is not that I was let down by my balloon experience. Rather, I was blown away by the incredible diversity and quantity of wildlife. Silently floating above this environment provided a unique perspective of the size and scale of the park and also the vast number of animals.
I have heard people talk about this experience for a long time. It was, for me, a defining part of this trip to the Serengeti. But, when I was there, it was more of a way to gain a new perspective than some grand moment.
The thundering roar of the burner warming your head as you watch a heard of giraffe gallop away is a moment that will remain with me for a very long time and I am thrilled it was not THE moment but one of many.
