Every city has a unique feel. The way it moves and smells and sounds gives it what I have always thought of as a soul. Some cities you just hate, some are just ok, and some you fall in love with. We fell in love with Madrid.
We ate food from all over Spain. The paella was wonderful. The coffee shop we spent our mornings drinking great coffee and eating wonderful croissants had pictures of London and America. We also stayed at our first of Many AC Hotel properties and the AC Hotel Recoletos took great care of us.
It was our first stop in Europe on a three-month trip so I am sure that added to the charm. Looking back now, I think the part I loved the most was simply how easy it was to move around and discover wonderful moments.
We stayed just a short walk from El Retiro Park and morning walks through the park were a great way to start the day. Finding a coffee shop just off Plaza Mayor was another special moment where we hid away from the crowd of the plaza.
I am still not sure what it was about Madrid that we fell in love with but I do know we will be back.
